OceanWatch Australia Educational Trailer

The OceanWatch Australia trailer and staff attend numerous environmental events and seafood festivals each year such as:

the Eden Whale Festival, Bounty of the Sea Festival Forster, Coffs Harbour Seafood Festival, Tocal Feild Days, World Environment Day, Ocean Care Day Manly, Sydney Fish Market Open Day, Mooloolaba Seafood Festival, Hervey Bay Seafood Festival, Moreton Bay Seafood Festival and various other environment or seafood events.

The trailer is used for multiple educational purposes. When attending seafood festivals it is used primarily to educate fishermen about alternative fishing gear and practices that they can adopt to minimise their impacts on non targetted species such as whales, dolphins, turtles, seabirds etc. When the trailer is used at community events it is used to educate the general public about how to reduce their impacts on the aquatic and marine environments which are critical for healthy seafood and marine life.

When not being used at events the trailer is kept in the public carpark of the Sydney Fish Market which is visited by 2 million people per year – subtly reminding them about the importance of healthy environments for healthy seafood.
